Get Ready to Graduate! State-Wide Convergence at BMCC May 18

Students United for a Free CUNY, Save Our SUNY, New York Students Rising, and ally community organizations will come together on Friday, May 18 at BMCC to demand the prioritization of education funding over wars, deportations, and prisons.

The Get Ready to Graduate Campaign is a day of action that highlights the lack of opportunities for graduating high school and college students alike. The group’s Facebook page explains

Students are graduating from broken, underfunded, and undemocratic school systems only to go out into a society where their opportunity to succeed is further hampered. A movement for social justice encompasses various issues and fights various forms of institutionalized oppression. As students we cannot fight for a democratic, free, and accessible quality education without simultaneously fighting against these other forms of institutionalized oppression. The undocumented, working class and students of color are far more likely to be subject to arrest and/or deportation, militarization, unemployment and displacement and/or homelessness.

The schedule for the day is below.
