National faculty association AAUP questions Pathways; Goldstein repeats claims to authority

The GC Advocate reported on an exchange of letters between the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) and Chancellor Goldstein regarding Pathways. The AAUP wrote after receiving news of threats made against faculty and Queensborough Community College who refused to implement the top-down model of general education. The letter backed Professional Staff Congress President Barbara Bowen’s call for “a moratorium on implementation of Pathways to allow academic freedom and open deliberation at CUNY to be repaired.”

In his response, Goldstein repeated claims he had made earlier in a University email that the faculty do not have authority to stop Pathways.
